So now not only is the real Fry dead, but everyone other than the professor, and Bender are dead as well.

I’m willing to accept this, but there is a clear and absolute dividing line between the original, and this new Futurama series. So far it’s just different, but it’s comforting to know that if this new Futurama ever reaches later Simpsons levels of badness I have a clear cut off point at which to never rewatch an episode. I won’t have to argue with myself or try to remember exactly where it all fell apart like the Simpsons, I will instead have a mark in time as clear as Elaine’s greasy new hairdo and goth makeup.
They could of course all be alive if in reality it wasn’t a duplicate universe, but instead proof that time is cyclical.
